An Italian disc jockey (DJ) was arrested in Assagao village in North Goa district after drugs worth Rs 55 lakh were discovered in his rented accommodation, according to an official.
Michael Lawrence Steffenoni, also known as DJ Bobblehead, was arrested on Sunday along with another guy, Neil Walter, according to Superintendent of Police (Anti-Narcotics Cell) Bossuet Silva.
Steffenoni performs in many nightclubs in North Goa’s coastal area.
According to the official, “Police seized drugs worth ₹ 55 lakh, including LSD and charas, from the room occupied by the DJ.”
Steffenoni was also supposed to play at two high-profile events in Anjuna and Vagator on September 2 and 3.
According to the initial probe, the DJ was about to peddle these drugs at these two events, said the police.
Goa’s Director General of Police Jaspal Singh took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote, “The DJ was supposed to perform in two parties. A strong signal to all such elements who break Indian Law. Well Done ANC.”
