Some 10.5 million Italians are set to
travel over the upcoming Easter holidays according to a survey
conducted by Tecnè for Federalberghi, the results of which were
released on Monday.
Of the respondents, 92% said they would be staying in Italy
while 8% have chosen to travel abroad.
Nearly one third (32.5%) of holidaymakers stating in Italy said
they would be heading for the seaside, followed by art cities
(28.9%), the mountains (21.8%), lakes (3.4%) and spas (2.5%).
For those travelling abroad, major European capitals will draw
the lion’s share of holidaymakers (74.4%), followed by cruises
(10.2%) and seaside locations (6.3%).
The average holiday will last 3.6 nights with an average per
capita expenditure including transport, accommodation, food and
entertainment of 371 euro.
In all, Easter holiday tourism travel is expected to have a
turnover of 3.9 billion euro.
