Serie A giants Milan have decided to promote Matteo Gabbia as a crucial member of the squad following his return from Villarreal.
According to a report by Marco Pasotto of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan squashed all rumours of offloading Matteo Gabbia from their squad this summer by deciding to keep him for the long term. The 24-year-old was called back early from his loan with Spanish side Villarreal to act as a stopgap option in the Rossoneri squad but has proved to be an influential player amongst the ranks.
The experience in LaLiga helped the Italian defender broaden his experience and improve his playing style as he can now channel those in his performances with Milan.
Matteo Gabbia will not spend the last few matchdays of the season thinking about a future elsewhere as the time has now come for him to settle in Stefano Pioli’s squad.
Recently, Gabbia has started on the bench but still his game time across the season proves his growing role in the team.
