Struggling Serie A giants Napoli are set to make another attempt to land former Tottenham and Inter boss Antonio Conte.
The Italian has already rejected Napoli in the past and he seemed keen on his sabbatical this season. La Gazzetta dello Sport state that there has been constant contact between Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis and Conte in the last few months and these contacts have ranged from that of a simple friendship to courting him for the Partenopei job.
The relations between the two have been excellent for some time and an approach from the Partenopei is expected. De Laurentiis believes that only Conte can bring back the enthusiasm that the squad and the fans need and there is belief that his arrival would make Napoli Scudetto contenders once again.
The expectation is that Napoli will have enough liquidity in their funds to move substantially during the transfer window and that will not just be vital to convince Conte, but also to sign the players that he wants. De Laurentiis is currently open to handing Conte a blank slate to sign players.
