Atalanta star Gianluca Scamacca has stated that La Dea’s 3-0 win isn’t enough for them to knock out Liverpool from the Europa League, after the Serie A side’s dominant triumph at Anfield.
Scamacca grabbed an important brace today and Mario Pasalic scored an important third to seal a vital win for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men. They could’ve got more, but they were denied by some impressive goalkeeper in what was a superb showing from Gasperini’s side.
Liverpool have a history of pulling off sensational comebacks and Scamacca was asked about the result by the press. He stated that he won’t be fooled by the margin and that La Dea can’t sit on their 3-0 lead (via TMW).
“There’s the return leg, I don’t want to be fooled by the enthusiasm, by the two goals. I have to stay calm for a moment, then we’ll see next week. 3-0 isn’t enough.”
He thanked his teammates for helping him get the brace and described it as a ‘fantastic’ night, but also reiterated that the margin isn’t enough.
“Jokes aside, it’s a fantastic night because we believed in it from the start, we’re very happy, it’s the return. It’s not much against them, 3-0 is not enough, you know.”
Atalanta constantly threatened Liverpool on the counter-attack and the front three sparkled, as they showed signs of excellent link-up. Gasperini would hope for more of the same in the second leg.
