The Rossoneri are yet to finalise who their next manager will be and the rumour mills continue to rumble, with an agreement yet to be reached with Sergio Conceicao.
Luca Bianchin has reported that as of now, Fonseca is the closest to joining Milan and he is well clear in the race to become the next Rossoneri boss. As Lille manager, Fonseca will manager his last game on Sunday and that is why next week is expected to be very important in the saga.
While Conceicao’s demands are over €3.5 million a season, Fonseca currently earns €2 million per season at Lille and he would demand less. The Portuguese, as of now, would have three possible scenarios.
Lille want to keep him at the club and Marseille have offered him a multi-year project with a lot of control in the transfer market. Milan, meanwhile, are the third option and they have already spoken to his entourage about the move and he seems much more keen on joining the Rossoneri.
He is currently said to be waiting for Milan to make an official move and next week could be when everything will be decided.
