Serie A side Bologna are now nearing a move for Mats Hummels, as they prepare to play in the Champions League next season.
The Rossoblu have been looking to sign a centre-back this summer as they look to sign a replacement for Riccardo Calafiori. La Gazzetta dello Sport state that it is likely that the replacement is going to be Hummels, who was released by Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season.
The feeling at Bologna is that the move is increasingly coming closer and the Rossoblu are optimistic about landing the player, who has rejected an approach from Bayer Leverkusen already. Interest from Real Madrid has also slowed down, even though a last minute approach can’t be ruled out.
Hummels’ will is going to be decisive and the German seems very interested in trying out an experience in the Serie A. He has been interested in a move to Bologna for weeks now and has never rejected the approach, with basic agreements already in place for the player. The lure of the Champions League has been decisive and Bologna seem willing to come close to the wage demands of the veteran.
