Sampdoria manager and ex-Juventus legend and boss Andrea Pirlo has been sacked from the post of the club’s manager.
Overnight, reports had stated that Sampdoria were considering Pirlo’s future, after the club failed to win the first three games of the Serie B campaign.
The decision has now been made, with Gianluca di Marzio reporting that the Italian has been sacked after a poor run of results. TMW state that Pirlo left the club’s training centre some minutes ago after the decision was made.
Marco Giampaolo has been mentioned as a potential candidate in recent hours and so has Andrea Sottil, who managed Udinese in the Serie A two seasons ago. It remains to be seen who replaces Pirlo or whether an interim boss could come in.
Pirlo had managed to take the club to the promotion play-off stages despite multiple injuries but they had failed to return to the Serie A.
