Scott McTominay made his first start for Napoli yesterday against Juventus in the Serie A and he made a mark.
Playing in an advanced midfield role after Antonio Conte changed his setup to a 3-5-2 from a 3-4-2-1, McTominay played very close to Romelu Lukaku in the final third and was constantly around the box, where he has found himself to be the most comfortable even at Manchester United.
There was no attempt to shoehorn him into a deep midfield role and McTominay became a bit of an advanced midfield target man, where he was receiving around the box and had some really good moments.
La Gazzetta dello Sport state that the midfielder ‘relaxed’ from the warm-up and he made immediate impact. They look at how he was constantly helping out Lukaku in attack and was often in the right spaces, stating that it was a first start to remember.I
It is suggested that McTominay was always keen on joining Napoli and Conte and things have started off very well.
