Naples, with its rich and varied culinary tradition, was yesterday proclaimed the city where one eats best in the world according to the annual ranking drawn up by Taste Atlas, the American online magazine that has been dealing with gastronomy and food culture for years.

The ranking, which analyses the cuisines of cities around the world, saw the podium dominated by Italy, with Naples in first place, Milan at the second e Bologna in third place. An unprecedented success for Italian gastronomy, which confirms itself as one of the most appreciated on a global level.

The best city in the world to eat: Naples, the capital of pizza and more

Naples, the city symbol of pizza, is the undisputed queen of this ranking. Neapolitan pizza, famous throughout the world for its simplicity and quality, remains the city’s flagship dish, but Neapolitan cuisine offers much more. The traditional taverns that dot the area are true institutions, where you can taste typical dishes such as gnocchi alla sorrentina and sfogliatelle, delicacies that capture the palates of tourists and locals. The richness and variety of Neapolitan cuisine are the basis of the success of this city, which knows how to combine tradition and innovation in every dish.

Milan: a surprise in second place

In second place we find Milan, a city that surprises a bit for its location, but which boasts a strong gastronomic tradition, linked above all to Milanese cuisine. Although far from the top positions, Bari has been recognized for its typical cuisine and some of its most representative dishes. The focaccia barese, with its soft dough and rich in olive oil, is the most popular dish, followed by panzerotti and the traditional orecchiette. The restaurants of Bari, such as Panificio Fiore, El Foccacciaro and La Baresana Trattoria, are places of worship for those seeking true Apulian cuisine, made of simple but tasty ingredients.

The ranking of *Taste Atlas* does nothing but confirm what food enthusiasts already know: Italy is the country where the food is best.
