Inter manager Simone Inzaghi had big praise for his players after the Serie A champions picked up a compact 1-0 win over Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.
Inzaghi, confident and adaptive in his approach, sprung some surprises in his starting XI. Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram didn’t start, as Inzaghi relied on the depth of his squad to pull of a huge result.
A Hakan Calhanoglu penalty at the end of the first half saw Inter take the lead and the Italian champions held on for the rest of the game to pick up all three points.
Inzaghi spoke to Amazon Prime after the game and he hailed the players of his squad and the performance they put in.
He said, as relayed by FCInter1908: “I got important answers. When we talk about 23 starters, it’s not just a matter of saying something. We need everyone. In the last period we’ve played every 72 hours, it’s not easy.
“We played against a very strong team, with a very high pace, I needed to change, We’ll enjoy this victory in front of our fans, from tomorrow we’ll think about the next match. We started this cycle with some injuries, the others needed to catch their breath. The one against Venezia was a demanding match, I have faith in everyone.”
The message from the Inter boss is clear – he won’t settle for the win and wants his side to keep improving, as they prepare to take on Napoli in their vital Serie A clash next.
