Efes point guard Darius Thompson has been granted Italian citizenship. The news, which started circulating after a story by the player’s wife on Instagram (source: Backdoor), was confirmed in Sportando in these minutes.
Born in Murfreesboro in 1995, Darius Thompson arrived in Italy in 2019, where he wore the Happy Casa Brindisi jersey for two seasons. He currently plays in Turkey with Anadolu Efes.
Italian by marriage, Darius Thompson will eventually be able to play as an Italian in our league only after a call-up to the national team for an official competition. The player is currently in contact with the Federation.
