Antonio Conte has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A giants Napoli but he has privately rejected rumours that he has made promises to the club about joining.
It was reported yesterday that Conte is tempted by the chance to join the Partenopei and is particularly appealed by the blank slate in the transfer window on offer from club CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis, who shares an excellent relationship with the former Tottenham boss.
Il Mattino (via CN24) today have reported that Conte has informed intermediaries around him about the links with the Partenopei, denying that any agreement has been reached.
Conte told his intermediaries: “I haven’t made any promises to Napoli,” stating that he has asked De Laurentiis to be patient. While he remains appealed by the blank slate in the transfer window on offer, he is still waiting to make a final decision about his future and he is keen on understanding if a better option comes from elsewhere in Europe.
