La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Arsenal’s talks for the Azzurri star have ‘frozen’ for now, as Calafiori will now be part of Bologna’s training camp in Valles under Vincenzo Italiano. This will slow down Arsenal’s pursuit of the defender, with the main also being Basel’s 50 percent sell-on clause.
This is making Bologna haggle over the price even though they were previously said to demand about €50 million to sell the defender. The Rossoblu also need funds to sign a replacement for Calafiori and they are keen to have enough resources to sign the right players, on top of paying the 50 percent of the sale amount to the Swiss side.
Mats Hummels is a potential target but for his wage demands, Bologna would want a younger player. Sinaly Diomandé is also a potential target and Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior has also been announced, but the Rossoblu haven’t quite gone forward with that proposal, as they look to sort out Calafiori’s future.
