Aurelio De Laurentiis’ counsel clarified Napoli’s position on a case related to Victor Osimhen’s transfer from Lille.
Speaking in an interview with RAI via Calcio Napoli 24, Aurelio De Laurentiis’ lawyer, Fabio Fulgeri conveyed the mood surrounding the case and how the Napoli president handled it when called for questioning today afternoon.
Aurelio De Laurentiis is being prosecuted for ordering false accounting when Victor Osimhen made his transfer from Lille to the Partenopei. The Neapolitans had to offload four players as part of the deal from their squad.
Fabio Fulgeri commented that the president was calm during the proceedings as he answered all he asked. He believes that they have presented enough evidence for the judge to dismiss this ongoing investigation against the club. Fulgeri said: “The president was calm. We trust that the arguments presented today are sufficient for the prosecutors to request the dismissal of proceedings. There was no concrete advantage compared to the operation, in terms of offence, as hypothesized: Napoli, by carrying out the Osimhen transfer, would still have participated in Italian and European competitions, we hope that the crime from a criminal point of view will be dismissed, From a sporting viewpoint, Napoli shouldn’t run any risks.”
De Laurentiis had a meeting with the Rome prosecutor earlier today and he spoke to the authorities about the false accounting case in mid-day. He is currently only being investigated and not on trial and the same applies to the entire Board of Directors at the club.
