Scottish giants Celtic have rejected Atalanta’s initial offer for their Danish midfielder Matt O’Riley.

O’Riley has been hugely impressive for Celtic for many seasons now as he plays in midfield and is a regular supply of goals and assists.

Gianluca di Marzio has now reported that the midfielder has attracted keen interest from Atalanta, who put forward a fee of €15 million to the Hoops. Celtic believe that the offer doesn’t match their valuation and has been rejected.

O’Riley is seen as a replacement for Aleksey Miranchuk, who is on his way to the MLS and his exit means that La Dea want someone who plays in midfield and can also play further forward. Celtic want a higher fee to sell O’Riley and it remains to be seen if Atalanta make a renewed attempt.

The Dane was hugely impressive last season, as he played 49 games and scored 19 goals and 18 assists.
