On Italy’s northeast coast, overlooking vistas of the Adriatic Sea, is the beautiful Venetian Riviera, which has been named Italys “cheapest” destination for package holidays in 2024. Though you may know the city of Venice for its incredible canal network and majestic buildings, the Riviera offers lazy days on the beach and picturesque walks through pinewood forests.
According to research from Which? Travel, the Venetian Riviera made it into the top 10 “cheapest” destinations for a package holiday this summer and is the cheapest destination in Italy.
Expedia described the Venetian Riviera as “one of Italy’s many coastal gems, a region of lively towns along a picturesque bay”.
The sands of the Venetian Riviera are dotted with sun loungers, while pavement cafés and gelato shops lure you in away from the midday sun.
“Purpose-built beach resort Lido di Jesolo on the edge of Venice Lagoon has more than nine miles of safe, sandy shoreline that’s great for families, and within easy reach of Venice,” said Which?.
“It’s also a bargain this summer at just £965 per person, on average. But it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, with its traditional amusements, lively nightlife and themed pubs.”
Lido di Jesolo was built with tourists in mind, so you may notice it is a little different from other coastal resorts in Italy. However, this is a destination where convenience rules. From the layout of the resort to its shops and services, tourists can rest assured everything is covered while on holiday here.
There is also a sparkling marina and a scattering of dozen piazzas brimming with trattorias and all-night discos. The resort town is also home to Via Bafile, Europe’s longest car-free avenue, which is the perfect place for a spot of retail therapy.
However, TUI notes that the seaside town has “raced to become one of Italy’s favourite go-slow holiday spots.”
If you do get tired of lazy days on the beach, the resort’s close proximity to Venice means you can combine both a beach holiday and a cultured city break in one, with the best flight options to the UK flying into and out of Venice Marco Polo Airport.
The Venetian Riviera also has good links to Lake Garda, Verona and the Dolomites, with many tour operators offering excursions for holidaymakers to enjoy.
TUI offers package holidays to Lido di Jesolo, with prices as low as £330 per person for a four-night package holiday in May, at the time of writing.
