Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi has confirmed that he is departing the club at the end of the season and while he has become an enticing option for many clubs, there is some background to interest from Milan.

Luca Bianchin, one of Milan’s most reliable journalists, had reported about the Rossoneri’s liking for the Italian. The Italian is on the club’s shortlist even though Paulo Fonseca is the leading candidate and while Milan haven’t made any offer for him yet, contact has already been made to gather information about the ex-Sassuolo boss.

Even though a host of clubs like De Zerbi, the manager has expressed gratitude for Milan in the past, revealing that he will always have an eye on the club.

In an interview with Sportmediaset last year, De Zerbi thanked the club for helping him develop into the manager that he is today.

He said: “I grew up at Milan, I lived for three years at Milanello and my football training comes from Milan, the real one. My football education comes from the Milan of Baresi, Tassotti, Maldini, Boban, Savicevic and Costacurta. I am a fan of Brescia but I am grateful to Milan for what they have given me given and for how they raised me. I always have an eye for Milan.”

More than that, De Zerbi has expressed his desire to coach in Italy again and the Milan hotseat will be free soon and so will the Napoli role.

Bianchin’s report earlier today had mentioned his release clause as a drawback for Milan to sign him but the Brighton exit means that signing him could be much more feasible now and it remains to be seen if this progresses or not.
