Inter have made primary contacts with Verona regarding information for promising Colombian defender Juan Cabal.

La Republica reports, via FcInter1908, that the 23 year-old central defender is very much liked by last year’s Serie A champions given his age and room for growth, which makes him fall perfectly aligned within Oaktree’s transfer strategy of focusing on younger players.

In addition  his versatility to be able to be deployed as a full-back enables the Nerazzurri to reinforce the depth out-wide following the unfortunate injury of Canadian star Tajon Buchanan, whom has suffered a broken tibia throughout this summer’s Copa America whilst with the national team and is only expected to resume action towards the end of the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Whilst holding initial talks with club president of the Gialloblu Maurizio Setti, the Beneamata were informed that Verona value the 2001-born defender at a price tag of €10m, but would also be open in reaching an agreement to a loan deal with an obligation to buy the player at the end of the season.

Despite not registering any goals nor assists last season, Cabal has made 23 appearances in the Serie A for Verona, demonstrating a great deal of maturity and experience at a young age, which certainly catches the eyes of Inter and motivates them to continue holding discussions in order to reach an agreement that would satisfy all parties.
