Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli (83) died in Florence, the company founded by Cavalli announced on Friday.
The company “Roberto Cavalli Maison” announced that from humble beginnings in Florence, Cavalli managed to become a globally recognized name that everyone loves and respects.
Italian media reported that Cavalli had been receiving treatment for some time, and his condition had worsened in recent days.
Cavalli, which has always stood out for its ornate style, has become a cult brand preferred by celebrities.
He was also known for incorporating animal prints into his designs.
Born on November 15, 1940 in Florence, Cavalli was orphaned at the age of four when his father was killed by the Nazis.
Last year, he became a father for the sixth time at the age of 82.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her condolences on Cavalli’s death.
“With the death of Roberto Cavalli, Italy and the world of fashion have lost a great entrepreneur and innovator. His name will forever be synonymous with style. My sincere condolences to his loved ones,” she stated.
