Nearing the season’s climax, Rome, which started back in 1935, marks the sixth WTA 1000 tournament. After a two-week gap, Rome is all set to welcome the old rivals of the Madrid Open. Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka are in full rhythm to swing their racquets in the Italian Open final encounter for the first time! However, as they prepare to take over each other on-court, one of the biggest questions is: how much will they take home after the clash?

Swiatek and Sabalenka, who battled their way to the final, have already secured a significant boost: 650 ranking points and a hefty $397,665.59(€365,015) prize money each. However, the WTA winner will have a total of 1000 points along with $762,277.27(€699,690). But irrespective of the prize money, the contest is sure to keep us all glued to our seats.

It is also going to be a déjà vu for the tennis fans, who are still recovering from the high-intensity final two weeks back. In Madrid, Iga Swiatek ruled the court, claiming her third title of the season, overthrowing Sabalenka. And after successfully completing the 20th title of her career, the World No. 1 now has a total of $3,584,059 in prize money. Therefore, if the 22-year-old succeeds in Rome, the addition to it will be huge and reach a high of $4,346,336.

But Aryna Sabalenka is also not very far behind. The Australian Open champion has secured an astounding amount of $2,934,816 during her reign in tennis. And if World No. 2 continues like this and wins in Rome, soon the total will rise to $3,697,093. As the grounds of Foro Italico set up for the match, all eyes will be on them to see their 11th encounter on-court. And in doing so, they will create history in the tennis world!

Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek are setting new records in tennis history by playing in the Italian Open final!

Iga Swiatek, who has breezed past her opponents throughout her career, currently has a 7-3 lead over Aryna Sabalenka. But among all the matches that they played against each other, this is more special. This is because by playing in Rome today, they‌ will become the first WTA world No. 1 and 2 to battle twice against each other in a final match within a span of two weeks.

Earlier, this record was held by Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport. Both of them played the Indian Wells and then the Miami Open finals within 14 days! Their clash will also mark another feat in the history of tennis. Remember when Serena Williams (former World No. 1) and Maria Sharapova (former World No. 2) met each other in consecutive WTA 1000 events (Miami Open and Madrid Open) in 2013?

Well, their record is also soon going to be broken by Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. This is because, like the former players, the World No. 1 and 2 players are also currently going to face each other in consecutive WTA 1000 finals! As they continue to achieve greater heights and set new records in the history of the sport, we are all eager to watch how the Italian Open final unfolds.
