America’s WTA star Danielle Collins took a funny jibe at her on-court personality. Known to call herself “Danimal”, Collins’s aggressive attitude has kept her in the headlines frequently. However, refusing to bend down from her opinion, Collins has not only shown great courage but also impressed many tennis legends including Andy Roddick. This American WTA star, who is proud of her “badass” personality, hilariously reveals why she “might get hung” for it.

In a fun Q&A session with the Tennis Channel, Danielle Collins revealed a quirky side of her personality. During this year’s Indian Wells tour, the ATP and WTA players took a stroll inside the garden with the Tennis Channel in a cart. Named perfectly the Confessional Cart, this Madrid and Charleston Open 2024 winner was asked, “If time travel was possible, what time period would you travel to?” Given Collins’s history of conflict with the umpires on the court, she didn’t surprise her fans with her response at all this time.

“It would be cool like to go back to like medieval history in some ways wouldn’t it. I love medieval history so hopefully I wouldn’t get I don’t know with my attitude and behavior on court I might get hung” she said. After Collins’s response, fans spotted the cameraman and one other official of the broadcasting platform almost rolling on the cart’s floor laughing.

For fans unable to get Collins’s sarcasm,  we would like to remind them of Collins’s incident with Maria Sakkari at the Montreal Open last year. In this match’s second half, Sakkari first made a faulty serve and then hit a ball mistakenly that bounced off and dropped into the crowd. Disappointed with this situation, Collins went to talk to the chair umpire of the match. However, before that, she asked Sakkari to “shut her mouth” while they were involved in a conflict.

This incident brought a lot of criticism but Collins remained firm in her reactionary judgment. “She almost hit someone, and I got villainised for standing up for them, A couple months ago, I wouldn’t have done that. I would have been too worried about what other people are saying or thinking about me, or judging me, I feel like, so much of what Jared [Jacobs, her coach] has tried to help me with is being my authentic self, what’s important to me and my values, and not being so concerned about the things that I can’t control.” said Collins.

This year during the Madrid Open, Collins again unleashed her deadly self as she yelled at a spectator who was heckling her during her match against Jacqueline Christian. “You come out in here and play, you do what I do, okay? Have a little more respect “ she said.

Despite criticism, this straightforwardness of the American tennis player impressed her fans. Her on-court aggression has also garnered a dedicated fan base including her country’s former and renowned tennis legend Andy Roddick.

In his podcast Served with Andy Roddick, the host delved deeper into the vibe of Collins, an aggressive playstyle that she brings into her game. “It’s like you don’t have to be a diehard tennis fan to understand her vibe to understand that there’s like this primal aggression inside of this. You know, awesome you know, woman just taking cuts and everything, There’s it’s not like there’s this like, subtlety It’s like she is going to walk up and throw haymakers like and it’s just it’s fun I mean, so I get it “ said Roddick about the Miami Open 2024 star.

Making aware of the fierce “Danimal”, Roddick tried to explain that this fierce attitude and aggression on the court are what makes Danielle Collins one of the best WTA players to behold on the court.
