Coming into the Italian Open, Nicolas Jarry has had the time of his life. After a series of bad results on clay, the World No. 16 was desperate to turn things around and Rome was the perfect platform for him. After some mind blowing performances, the Chilean tennis player managed to make his way into the final of the tournament where Alexander Zverev patiently waited for him. However, at a time when he needed the most, he could not step on to his expectations and eventually lost in straight sets.

In what would have been his first Masters’ title in as many finals, he was defeated 6-4, 7-5 by the World No. 4. However, soon after the match was over, he could not control his emotions in the post-match conference. After collecting his runner-up trophy, as soon as he stepped on the stage to give his speech, emotions surrounded him.

So, much so, that he even could not look into his wife’s face, who was cheering for her from the stands. However, after seeing her husband deep into emotions, his wife, Laura Urruti, also could not resist herself. But, amidst the tough scenes, the supportive crowd found their own ways to cheer him up. The crowd sang “Ole Ole Ole Nico,” to cheer him up after fighting brilliantly in the Rome final.
