Serie A giants Milan are set to sack manager Stefano Pioli at the end of the season, with the Italian’s stint at the Rossoneri now weeks away from ending.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TMW) have reported about Pioli’s future at the club, stating that things about his future seem more certain than ever now. After having come through difficult times earlier in the season, the loss to Inter has only assured the club that Pioli can’t take Milan forward anymore. Major doubts had emerged after the Europa League elimination but now, it seems all but confirmed that Pioli will leave at the end of the season.
Names about potential replacements are already being thrown about. Two likely names are Paulo Fonseca and Julen Lopetegui. Alternatives include former Paris Saint-Germain boss Christophe Galtier and ex-River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo, but both of them have rich contracts with clubs in the Middle East and that will make things difficult.
