With the Rossonerri having only accumulated one point within their first two Serie A matches under former Lille coach Paulo Fonseca, Milan were extremely active within the final 24-hour period of the summer transfer window.
Most notably, the Milanese club brought in their primary candidate to serve as a back-up to Spaniard Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham of Roma.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the English international joined Milan in a swap deal involving Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers serving as a counter-part, along with an additional €7m in transfer fees.
Hence, Milan have not selected former Fiorentina striker Luka Jovic into the squad to face Lazio this weekend as the arrival of the former Chelsea and Aston Villa marksman caused Milan to willingly attempt to offload the forward. However, no concrete offers arrived in time, which should result in the 26-year-old being reintegrated into the Portuguese tactician’s squad.
The Rossonerri pushed to seize Manu Kone as an additional reinforcement in the midfield, but the Frenchman joined Roma as Milan were unable to offload Algerian international Ismael Bennacer in time to beat the capital club.
Consequently, with possible pathways linking Ismael’s future to Atletico Madrid and Marseille, the Rossonerri made contacts with former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in an attempt to seize him as a free agent signing.
However, the 26-year-old holding midfielder was unable to secure an exit before the closure of the window, causing Milan to not have the necessary funds to meet the lucrative demands of the French international .
With Bennacer remaining in Milan, it is also expected that the Algerian international will resume first team action following the fixture against the Biancocelesti.
