Napoli are close to agreeing a deal with Leonardo Spinazzola to bring the 31-year-old full-back to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this summer.
The Italian international, who is currently out of contract after spending the past five years in the capital with AS Roma, is ready to answer the call as new boss Antonio Conte looks to reignite Napoli’s challenge to try to recapture the Scudetto they won in 2023.
Conte sees Spinazzola, who made 35 appearances across all competitions for Roma last term, scoring one goal and making four assists, as a perfect fit for his preferred 3-4-3 formation.
Gianluca Di Marzio states that although an agreement is still to be finalised, negotiations between the two parties will continue over the next few days, with a decision likely in the early part of next week.
Spinazzola shot to fame at Euro 2020 with some impressive performance for his country before being cruelly cut down after suffering an Achilles tendon injury in the Azzurri’s quarter-final victory over Belgium.
