Summer 2024 is officially over And it is time to take stock. Emirates, on the occasion of the world tourism day, released a series of data which tell how Summer ’24 was a real success.
Proof of this is the figure on the load factor, the fill rate of flights to and from Italy, which in June and July has passed the 80%: travelers, in short, love Italy and find it very attractive. But…who are these travelers? The vast majority of the more than 95,000 people who have arrived in our country on board Emiraters come from 3 key markets for the company : Australia, New York, and Dubai; it should also be noted that travelers who arrived in Italy stayed an average of 17 days.
In contrast, the over 80,000 passengers departed from the 4 Italian airports served by Emirates (Bologna, Rome, Milan e Venice) opted for somewhat shorter stays (about 13.9 days): the 5 most popular destinations were New York, Dubai, Denpasar, Tokyo, and Bangkok; note, however, that practically all of the routes preferred by Italians are served by EK’s A380s.
Interesting, then, is the fact that 59% of passengers chose to travel alone (last year ‘loners’ were only 40.6%): this figure shows how individual tourism is growing; in contrast, bookings made (during peak periods) for group travel were just under 6,000.
“Italian tourism experienced an exceptional year: foreign visitors’ attendance increased by 14% and their spending by 20% in the first two months of 2024, contributing significantly to GDP growth. Against this backdrop, Emirates, with a load factor of 80.9% during the summer, demonstrated an excellent performance in the Italian market, consolidating its position as a leader in the airline industry. Thanks to the highest quality products and services, unparalleled connectivity, and a strong commitment to the Bel Paese, Emirates’ Italian summer made a major contribution to the growth of Italian tourism.” stated Flavio Ghiringhelli, country manager of Emirates Italy.
