Milan will aim to consolidate their second-place position in the league standings when they face Lecce tomorrow at the San Siro.
Milan are on a 5-game winning run ahead of this match across all competitions and the streak includes victories against tough opponents like Lazio and Fiorentina. Stefano Pioli has been given the task of finishing the season as runners-up behind Inter as their neighbourhood rivals have virtually clinched the Scudetto. So far, the Italian manager has fared well in bringing back the Rossoneri to form and getting the three points from crucial matches. Milan’s last outing ended in a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the Serie A. Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring in the 47th minute but the Viola responded shortly with an equaliser through Alfred Duncan. The match was settled within an action of seven minutes as Rafael Leao’s 53rd-minute strike helped the visitors grab the three points.
Meanwhile, Lecce come into this match on the back of a goalless draw with Roma. It was a much-needed point for Luca Gotti’s men as they opened up a four-point gap from the relegation zone. The Salentini have scored the third-lowest number of goals in the first division this campaign as they have faced problems in creating chances in the attacking department. The same defensive approach is expected of them against Milan tomorrow to get another crucial point which would go a long way in avoiding a late dropzone battle.
