La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the two clubs are ironing out the last bits of financial details about the transfer and ‘almost everything’ has been defined in a potential swap deal.
Paulo Fonseca had wanted to sign Abraham but he also wanted to keep Saelemaekers. So he is essentially signing a player of his choice and losing one he wanted to keep. A second-choice striker was badly needed by Milan, who have lost Alvaro Morata to injury and Roma are getting a versatile wide player, who was also used at left-back by Fonseca in their Serie A opener.
The deal is expected to go through and Gazzetta seem quite confident, with Abraham previously being close to joining West Ham before issues in his wage demands cropped up.
