Manager Daniele de Rossi managed his first Rome derby today and the game ended in a victory for the Giallorossi, as Mancini grabbed a goal that kept his side very much in the Champions League race.
After the game, Mancini was asked about how he is feeling and about his thoughts about the game, as he stated that he is currently the happiest man in the entire world because of the win.
He said (via TMW): “Derby won after a long time, it was the tenth for me and I missed the goal. I’m the happiest man in the world”.
He further stated: “For our fans, we haven’t won in a long time, they deserve it because they have always been with us even when we exited the Italian Cup. The goal makes you happy, but the important thing was to win. I will keep today’s shirt forever.”
He also spoke about how he played through a minor injury, stating: “Yes, I had a little problem, but I took something to continue. I can only come out of these games with a broken leg, because I’m too sick on the bench.”
The win means that Roma remain at fifth in the table and are currently only two points behind fourth-placed Bologna and as things stand in the UEFA Coefficient, the Giallorossi will be playing in the Champions League.
