Bologna are having an exceptional Serie A campaign and while they have had multiple exceptional performers, Riccardo Orsolini is right at the top for putting in showings that are escalating the Rossoblu to new heights.
While the Italian has always been an important performer for the club over the years, the current one is arguably his best one, as he has racked up a tally of ten goals in the campaign so far. He had scored 11 times in the league last season but he has now reached the ten-goal mark consecutively for the first time in his career.
He has already pretty much managed to reach the goalscoring heights of club heroes Beppe Signori and Marco Di Vaio, making the 27-year-old the third Bologna player to score ten or more goals in the league. More than that, this is the first time in recent memory after Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni that an Italian player has reached the ten-goal mark in 30 games.
He is currently the Italian with the most number of goals in the top five European leagues. The likelihood, as of now, is that he could be handed the captain’s armband soon, with Thiago Motta having turned him into someone who is lethal off the bench and vital while starting as well.
